Dolan Rallies In Support Of Tax Credit Proposal For Education Donations

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Cardinal Timothy Dolan and a number of union leaders joined with parents Monday to rally for a measure that supporters say will help all schools in New York State.

As WCBS 880’s Rich Lamb reported, the bill in Albany aims to funnel non-tax dollars to public schools, as well as to scholarships for religious and private school students by creating a new tax credit for anyone making a charitable contribution for educational purposes.

“And all it does, Rich, is encourage business leaders to invest in schools, all schools, with scholarships and we’ll give them a tax credit for it. So the other good news is, it’s not costing the state anything,” Cardinal Timothy Dolan told Lamb.
