In this world of digital communication, warmth can be lacking in how many of us approach our career journey. How many times have you re-written an application or letter or resume because your ‘voice’ was too apparent? Is this a bad thing?

Well, I say no, it isn’t. When you read a lot of applications, you want and expect to hear the person’s voice. And when you meet them you expect the voice in the written stuff to match the person you meet. Often this ISNT the case. Perhaps when you pay someone to write it for you. Or you delete all sense of yourself out of the writing.

Next time you are sending an application or writing a letter, make sure YOU write it. Don’t be afraid to use your own tone and language while still keeping it accurate and avoiding slang. Give the reader the chance to meet…
