More than 1,000 new jobs were created by IDA companies in Galway last year, bringing the total number of people employed by the agency’s clients here to almost 14,000.
And there are indications that more jobs are in the pipeline for the city in 2014 as 15 IDA-sponsored site visits took place last year, bringing prospective employers to Galway with a view to establishing operations.
Galway West TD Brian Walsh welcomed the figures and said the prospect of further jobs growth from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) was cause for optimism for the city’s continued recovery.
“Galway has been established as a magnet for FDI with a workforce and infrastructure that makes it fertile ground for companies seeking to set up operations here,” he said.
